MASAI MARA
SAFARI
Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve offers superb, year-round game viewing of large concentrations of animals, with the climax being the renowned Great Migration of millions of wildebeests and zebras. For this reason, the Mara provides a wildlife experience second to none in the world. Covering an area of over 1500 sqkm in southwestern Kenya, the Masai Mara is a land of endless vistas, amazing wildlife viewing, superb safari camps and cultural experiences with the native Maasai people.
The Reserve is a photographer's dream, with abundant lion, cheetah, elephant, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, the migratory zebra and wildebeest, topi and Coke's Hartebeest. Leopard and serval are often seen, while the endangered black rhino may be seen emerging from the dense bush. Blue monkey and red-tailed monkey thrive in the evergreen Kichwa forest. Troops of banded mongoose roam the savannas and large pods of hippo and huge Nile crocodiles are abundant in the Mara river. The Mara is also home to over 450 birds.
