James
Weis and his wife Nicky Glover run Eyes on
Africa, an African safari tour company based
in Chicago. James has balanced a career
running a financial systems business with
his love for Africa by spending one month
here
every year, usually in Botswana's Okavango
Delta. Over the past 15 years, photography
has become his passion and Eyes on Africa
is a fitting outlet of his love for the continent's
wild places and its wildlife. |

ONE
OF MY favourite spots for photography is
'Rock Pan' in the dry Savuti Channel, where
herd
after herd of elephants come to drink. We
watched this herd approach from afar and
as they got
nearer, their excitement to get to the water
grew until they started into a full-out run. Elephants
have an incredibly acute sense of smell and
the individuals with raised trunks are scenting
other animals at the pan and, most probably,
us as well. |
