Mother
nature herself had a hand in setting out the camp.
The staff provide the spirit and pure linen and
soft fabric provide the comfort. Nestled under
magnificent trees on the bank of the perennial
Monwana River and over looking an
active
water
hole lie four suites and two Superior suites with
plunge pool.
Each of the suites has an overhead fan,
air conditioning, open fireplaces, glass fronts
and private viewing decks. The designed 'picture
window' bathrooms in the Superior suites include both
indoor and outdoor showers and were designed with romance
in mind. These large, two-bedroomed suites include
private plunge pools and fireside facilities.
Accommodating
a maximum of eight guests, exclusivity and personalised
service are hall marks of this
intimate camp. Soft leather couches, warm fireside
evenings in winter, and walk-in
underground wine celler compliment
the
informal
atmosphere.
Shumbalala is the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity.
All suites line the banks of the seasonal Monwana
riverbed.
Shumbalala
accommodations also include the following: • Pool.
• Conference facility and curio shop.
• Elevated viewing decks and cantilever deck for superior
suite.
• Open air dining area and wine cellar.
• Air-conditioned rooms.
• En-suite bathrooms with outdoor shower facility.
Savour sumptuous
cuisine prepared by Shumbalala's well-trained chef
- taken either from
the lodge's decks positioned to ensure scenic
vistas across the river or in more formal surroundings
in the candle-lit dining room accompanied by
a
cracking fire in winter. Open-air fireside dinners
are an occasion and opportunity to share your
experiences with others.
Spend the lazy afternoons at the pool, reading
in the camp's private library, shopping in the
African
curio shop, bird watching,
or taking a siesta in your suite. Shumbalala
is the ultimate in luxury and service from arrival
to departure. Activities
Your qualified
and experienced ranger and tracker are ever present
- accompanying you on early morning and afternoon/evening
game drive safaris in specially modified bush vehicles
offering the comfort of individual bucket seating. Bush
walks for the adventurous are a fascinating experience,
as you discover the wonderful design of nature and
each individual creature in the bush. Morning coffee
and evening sundowners are enjoyed in the open veldt,
often in close range of wildlife.
Wildlife
Game viewing at Shumbalala
is of a high standard and compares with the best
in
the world. Guest can expect to see lion, elephant,
leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra
and other general game on game drives. "Close
encounters of a different kind" are typical
at Shumbalala and they will linger in yourt memory
long after your departure. Leopard,
considered by many to be the most prized of sightings,
are regularly encountered.
Leave with memories of close encounters with the
Big Five and perhaps even Cheetah and/or the elusive
Wild Dog. The sunsets, beautiful surroundings,
and sounds of the bush will have you longing to
return.
