BAKUBUNG BUSH LODGE - PILANESBERG GAME RESERVE
A
mere two hours drive north of Johannesburg and Pretoria and you'll find
yourself in the tranquil
heart of the
bush. Tucked in the expanses of the malaria-free Pilanesberg Game Reserve, Bakubung Bush Lodge offers the best of two worlds -
combining the peaceful bush environment with luxury and comfort. Pilanesberg Game Reserve is home to the gargantuan shapes of Africa's giants
- elephants, rhino and buffalo. If you're fortunate, you may catch
a glimpse of the stealthy leopard or lion, stately king of the
bush. Wild country indeed, but without the risk of malaria.
If you do head this way, be sure
to check in at Bakubung Bush Lodge - a venue of such excellence that
it has been awarded "Best Bush
Conference Venue" at the 2000 Venue Finder Awards. It was also voted
the ASATA\ Diners Club “Best South African Game Lodge" in
2003. |

Location &
Nearby Attractions
A magnificent wildlife sanctuary lies not too far from
the bustle of Johannesburg and Pretoria - located close enough to drive
comfortably in under two hours, yet sufficiently distanced from the city
lights.
Pilanesberg Game Reserve, which covers
some 55,000 hectares, is the fourth largest in southern Africa. This
malaria-free park is perched on the eroded vestiges of an alkaline
volcanic crater - one of only three such craters in the world. On its
undulating hills and everlasting open plains, you can get a glimpse
of the 'Big Five', an abundance of animals and over 360 bird species.
As well as the 'Big Five', you might also find the nocturnal brown
hyena, wild dogs, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and even sable.
Many guests are
content to spend time at the lodge, drinking in the meditative silence
and holding the wide, open plains in awe; but they never leave without
tracking down the Big Five in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, on game
walks or drives.
Bakubung and Pilanesberg Game Reserve are situated adjacent to the world-renowned Sun
City Resort. For a
diversion, there's all the bustle and excitement of a day at Sun
City, including:
Golf
Tennis
Squash
Ten pin bowling
Horse riding
Crocodile farm
Aviary
Casino
Live entertainment venues
Theatre and movie
