CITY &
TABLE MOUNTAIN FAMILY EXCURSION (Private
Half-Day Tour)
Depart the city to the Lower Cableway Station to board the revolving cable car, for a 5-minute ride to the top of Table Mountain. One thousand thirty-six meters above sea level, it affords bird's-eye views of both city and Peninsula as you walk its summit (weather permitting).
Return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter (named after those peoples exiled to the Cape from Dutch colonies in the East).
On to the Company Gardens, the original fresh produce garden for visiting ships and locals from the mid 17th Century and today, home to the SA Museum, Cultural History Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George's Cathedral.
At the V&A Waterfront visit the Two Oceans Aquarium - so named for the mighty Indian and Atlantic oceans which wash this southern tip of Africa - and show-casing the incredible diversity of marine life found in these waters. It is noted for its up-close, touch-and-feel exhibits designed especially for children.
Head up to Signal Hill next to witness the firing of the famous Noon Day Gun (excluding Sundays). Cape Town's oldest living tradition (originally providing a time signal for ships anchored in the bay) it boasts the world's oldest gunpowder charged guns still in daily use.
Lunch at one of the city's many popular restaurants and then browse one of the local craft centres in the city.
