UNLIKE
FEMALE cheetahs, which live alone except
when raising cubs, male cheetahs often remain
with
another male sibling throughout their adult
lives. This mature male and his brother,
popularly known as 'the steroid boys' at
Mombo camp on Chief's Island, frequently
hunt red
lechwes, which are always found in or near
water. We spent an entire day observing
the two cheetahs until they chased and pulled
down
a large male lechwe just after sunset.
