Sanctuary Lodges & Camps have acquired the following camps and lodges in Zambia:

Sussi & Chuma on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park above the world-famous Victoria Falls
Lechwe Plains Tented Camp in the Lochinvar National Park north of Lusaka
Kulefu Camp situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Lower Zambezi National Park
Puku Ridge Tented Camp in the South Luangwa National Park
Chichele Presidential Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park, the world-famous lodge which was originally built by President Kaunda

For millennia, this low, rocky ridge has overlooked the wide, water-rich valley. From this vantage point among the trees, predators and hunters would quietly observe the prolific hunting grounds spread out below. But now visitors come to Puku Ridge to revel in the abundance of wildlife and the comforts of a traditional old-world safari camp.

Named for the elusive Puku antelope which never strays far from water, this beautiful camp among the trees is landscaped into a secluded ridge overlooking the Kakumbu Valley in the southern section of South Luagwa National Park. Here, the living is easy for both visitors and wildlife.

The diverse wildlife along the dambo offers great opportunities for photography, whether you choose to explore on foot with a keen-eyed guide, or range further afield in a safari vehicle. And in the evenings, you dine with the night sounds of Africa for a soundtrack.

Puku Ridge inhabits a remote world of its own, watching the ancient patterns of life and survival while treating its visitors to enjoyably civilised hospitality.

Puku Ridge is a new camp (opened July 2003) operated by Star of Africa. Leopard and lion sightings from the comfort of the camp have already been excellent.

Puku Ridge Tented Camp is small and intimate, built unobtrusively close to the wild. It is a twelve-bed tented safari camp with six spacious walk-in canvas safari tents with a wrap around view of the flood plains below.

Each of the six comfortably furnished safari tents are huge - 12 meters by 7 meters with lovely big teak verandahs, lavish bathroom with sunken baths and outdoor showers with superb views overlooking the floodplains.

Well-lit pathways cleared of undergrowth connect the tents to the main bar/lounge. The natural vegetation has been left as undisturbed as possible.

All units include:
• Toilet, basin, indoor and outdoor showers and sunken bath
• Two three-quarter beds, double or king size beds
• Mosquito nets
• Private verandah
• Ceiling fans
• Hair dryers

Accommodation includes the following:
• 3 meals a day
• 2 game viewing activities per day
• Laundry service
• Evening camp fire
• Charter flights available

Meals are served at the usually accepted times but can be dependent on game drives and will vary seasonally. All meals are table d’hôte with a wide selection of dishes, and will be served outdoors whenever possible - often around a campfire in the evening.
