PLANTATION LODGE - NGORONGORO / KARATU, TANZANIA
Plantation Lodge is located half way between Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A green oasis that rest on the red-brown hills amidst the vastness and silence of East Africa. The Plantation Lodge is set on about 3 hectares of working farm and a coffee plantation.  

One of the highlights at the Lodge is the gardens that attracts butterflies and a variety of birds.

The Plantation Lodge accommodation is scattered throughout the property and is connected with stone path.  Some rooms are detached and others are adjacent to each other and is clustered together is small groups.  Plantation Lodge consist of 16 Standard Rooms and 4 Suites.

Standard Rooms
The 16 standard rooms are distributed throughout the flowering garden; some rooms have verandas with direct access to the garden.  The rooms are individually decorated with it’s own style and accessories.

Coffee House Suites
The Coffee House consists of the Kent and Blue Mountain suites that are decorated with style and comfort in mind.  The suites share the terrace and garden with access to the fireplace room.  The bedroom with en suite bathroom walks out onto a veranda with sunbeds.

 

Zanzibar Suite
The Zanzibar Suite is decorated to create an exotic atmosphere of a tropical island off the coast of Tanzania.  The bedroom with Zanzibar Styles bed and en suite bathroom makes this suite a piece of heaven where your vacation dreams can come true.

 

Jacaranda Suite
The Jacaranda Suite is also known as the Honeymoon Suite, situated away from the other rooms. The suite is modern with en suite bathroom and spectacular views of the garden from the fireplace room.  The private terrace is situated next to the entrance of the suite.

 

Family Suite/Farm House
The free standing Farm House is surrounded with gardens and the path is lined with Oleander and bougainvillea. The house consist of 2 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms is ideal for families or two couples.  The house has a living room with dining area, sofas and a fireplace to create a cozy atmosphere.

 

Garden House
The two-story Garden House offers 4 double bedrooms and is ideal for families or groups.  The house consists of an upper fireplace room with lounge area and a dining room in the heart of the house.

Dining/Bar
Restaurant
All vegetables, salads, herbs and fruit are grown on the farm.  Meals from the kitchen are healthy, untreated and particularly tasty.

Bar
The bar is the social hub, meeting new people or just to relax. That freshly mixed cocktail tastes just as good served on the sweeping bar top as it does savored on the terrace that overlooks panoramic vistas. Whether indoors or out, whether apéritif or post-meal digestif, here pleasure is guaranteed no matter what. On balmy evenings, people gravitate towards the wooden veranda, enjoying the sunset-bathed view of the expansive landscape.

Wine Cellar
Plantation Lodge has an extensive collection of wine that is maintained at the perfect temperature in our treasure chamber of wines that is located below the bar area. Wide range of predominantly South African wines are available to best complement any food.

The Pool
Whether you just want to laze around or you want to refresh yourself after a dusty game drive – our pool with its view of the picturesque hills is the ideal place for a break. You can relax luxuriously on one of the comfortable sunbeds. Read, swim, dream – time will just fly. And when the sun sinks blood red behind Mount Oldeani, this is the most romantic place for a sundowner.

Activities
Why not experience another side of Tanzania? A range of activities at the lodge and in the near vicinity offer you the chance to get to know the country and its people better and to explore the beauties of nature on foot.

Birdwatching

Plantation Lodge gardens offers a wide range of birds for guest to admire. Such colorful birds as Fischer’s lovebirds or the yellow-bellied sunbird are regular visitors to Plantation Lodge gardens. Our staff will explain the various bird species to you on a tour around our flowering garden.

Visit to a coffee plantation
A walk with one of our staff will lead to a neighboring coffee plantation. Here you will learn how coffee beans are treated and what steps are needed to make this delicious and aromatic beverage.

Visit to a farm
With one of our staff you will visit one of the farms adjacent to the lodge. Here you will gain an insight into African country life: You will see how the people on the farm live and work.

Massage (on own account)
Relax luxuriously with a massage and feel newborn afterwards. Make an appointment with our qualified masseuse and spoil yourself.
