MATEMWE BEACH HOUSE RATES: Matemwe Beach House Rates

MATEMWE BEACH HOUSE - MATEMWE, ZANZIBAR , TANZANIA
The northeast part of Zanzibar Island is known as Matemwe. This area is famous for its fine white sand beaches, the contrasting colors of the Indian Ocean and the beauty of the coral reef around the Mnemba Island. Matemwe borders a small fishing village where local fisherman set out on a daily basis in their traditional dhows passing close to Matemwe.

The stretch of perfect beach alongside the lodge is shared only with the fishing village, which is situated on the far side of the soft sand. There are not many beaches in Zanzibar still featuring only one resort; care has been given to ensure privacy and exclusivity through out the resort.

Matemwe is just 60 minutes drive from Stone Town, allowing for easy day trips and excursions to the many different and varied interesting places on offer in Zanzibar. Matemwe Beach House is the perfect holiday home for a family or small group wanting a private slice of this beautiful coastline. This privately contained house is just a stone’s throw from the sea where activities such as snorkeling, diving, canoeing, reef walks and so much more await you. The sea breeze, palm trees and the sound of the waves are a constant reminder of the tranquil setting that this house is situated.

The three-bedroom traditional beach house is located just five paces from the beach with your private pool deck that lies between the two. The house sits in its own enclosure and looks out over the plunge pool to the beach and blue sea beyond, both of which are accessed by a private path and gate. Two of the rooms are en suite with a third situated on a mezzanine floor – ideal for children. You will be looked after by your own team of staff led by a Matemwe chef and butler who ensure that the food and experience at the Beach House is tailored to your family or group.

The master bedroom offers a king-sized bed with a framed mosquito net and en suite bathroom with shower. Second bedroom with twin beds and adjoining bathroom with both bath and shower. This bathroom is shared if you have guests staying on the mezzanine. An upstairs room with 3 further beds suitable for children (steep stairs so not suitable for young children). This floor shares the second bathroom.

A hammock, a large couch and scatter cushions create a relaxing atmosphere on the wooden deck where you will enjoy tasty and fresh food as well as relaxing in the shade during the day or enjoying sundowners overlooking the ocean. You have 24 hour hot water (solar& electricity powered). 24-hour electricity supply with back-up generator. Laundry is available on a daily basis and included in the rate. It is returned within 24 hours, weather permitting.

Dining and Private Bar
A personal butler will look after all your needs throughout the duration of your stay. The chef will visit the villa on a daily basis; to discuss meal plans for the day. All meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen, which is adjacent to the house. Your butler will assist with activity bookings, and recommend leisure interests depending on weather and tide conditions. Your butler will serve all meals and act as housekeeper during your stay. All meals are served at a time of your choice. In addition we do not have a set menu so you can simply decide each morning what your individual menu will be for the day. The chef will make suggestions depending on special deliveries and the catch of the day.

The exceptional cuisine is a fusion of traditional Zanzibari and international flavors. Seafood is a specialty, and fresh fish is prepared on a daily basis. Dietary requirements are catered. Notice prior to arrival is recommended.

The private bar in your villa is stocked with a variety of cool drinks, wines, beers and spirits. Drinks are available at all times of day from your own bar. Should you require any drink not stocked in the bar, your butler will do his best to oblige. Cocktails are mixed at the pool bar in the main lodge, so please allow time for the butler to prepare your drink of choice. Premium brand spirits and liqueurs, cellar wines and French champagne is available but is not included in your room rate. Bottled drinking water, tea and coffee making facilities are available.
