SAVUTE SAFARI LODGE - SAVUTI MARSH, CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, BOTSWANA
In the heart of Botswana’s Chobe National Park lies a dynamic wilderness, a sweeping expanse of savannah brooded over by seven rocky outcrops that guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline. Mysterious wet and dry cycles mould this landscape and dictate the nature of its wild inhabitants. This is Savuti and for the moment the channel is dry.

Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient camel thorn trees on the shore of the channel. The lounge, library and cocktail bar are situated in the exquisite thatch and timber main building, where an upstairs viewing deck allows Savute’s enchanting sunsets to mesmerize guests. A large fireplace downstairs is equally inviting on winter nights, while the delicious aroma of dinner and the prospect of candlelit dining beckons guests to the elegant dining-room. Savute Safari Lodge is owned and operated by Desert & Delta Safaris.

Savute Safari Lodge accommodates just 24 people in twelve contemporary, tastefully furnished, twin-bedded luxury wood, thatch and glass safari suites, ideal for the hot and dry conditions. Double volume suites with their spacious interior and large, glass sliding doors sets the lodge apart from typical safari accommodation. Large private viewing decks and en-suite facilities, with walk in showers combine to make Savute Safari Lodge an unforgettable experience. The lodge also boasts a swimming pool and shaded viewing deck, both of which overlook the channel, and where afternoon tea is served and guests can sit around the campfire after dinner.

Activities
The world-acclaimed game viewing of Savuti is an experience not to be missed. Professional safari guides will unveil the secrets of the African bush on game drives in open 4x4 vehicles. Here Wild Dogs hunt in the Savuti Channel where Crocodiles swam only twenty years ago. The Gubatsa Hills shelter Leopard and Klipspringer and contain rock paintings of early man's wildlife encounters.

Savute Safari Lodge offers daily game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles in the Savute area of the Chobe National Park, including the Savute Marsh and a visit to Gubatsa Hills and ancient San rock paintings.

Wildlife
Dry season game viewing concentrates on Savuti's famous resident bull Elephants, antelope and Lion prides around half-empty pans and permanent waterhole's. Black-backed Jackal, Bat-eared Fox, Tsessebe, Kudu, Impala, Giraffe and Ostrich abound. The summer rains bring a feast for Lion, Hyena and Cheetah as thousands of migrating Zebra and Wildebeest assemble in a chaotic pattern on the Savuti Marsh. Buffalo herds arrive and migrant birds swell Savuti's resident population of over 300 species. Carmine Bee-eaters perch on the backs of Kori Bustards and Redcrested Korhaans plummet from the sky in daring acrobatic mating displays.

In the evening, the sun sets behind flocks of Marabou Storks roosting in the bare trees and the Woodland Kingfishers sing you to sleep on moonlit nights.
