CAMP OKAVANGO - OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA
Camp Okavango is situated on remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience. Botswana's magnificent Okavango Delta is a maze of lagoons, lakes and hidden channels covering an area of over 16,000 square km in flood and shrinking to less than 9,000 square km in the dry season. Trapped in the parched Kalahari sands the fresh water oasis attracts wildlife that depends on the permanent waters of this unique wilderness.

Camp Okavango accommodates only 24 guests in intimate exclusivity in 11 East African-style safari tents individually situated on raised teak platforms with en-suite ablution facilities and private sun-decks. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with an African Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director's chairs. Colorful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway. Honeymooners are catered for and, for those who demand the ultimate in exclusivity, Camp Okavango boasts the “Okavango Suite”, a timber and thatch suite offering complete privacy and the option of private game-viewing activities.

Camp Okavango’s unashamed luxury blends with the Africa of yore in the elegant thatch and lethaka main lodge buildings. Meals are silver service at dining tables romantically lit by candelabra. The dining room leads onto an expansive open-air patio for evenings around a blazing camp fire. Other lodge facilities include a cocktail bar, lounge, wildlife reference library, a secluded bird-viewing hide, shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful sun-deck and plunge pool for relaxation during the hot midday hours. Camp Okavango is owned and operated by Desert & Delta Safaris.

Shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful sundeck and plunge pool provide relief during the hot, midday hours, whilst an elevated observation platform affords stunning views of the tranquil floodplains. Accommodation includes all meals, local brand drinks, game viewing activities, park entrance fees and laundry service.

Children
No children under 16 years are accepted.

Activities
Water-based game-viewing activities are conducted by experienced professional guides who will expertly navigate guests through the many meandering, reed-lined waterways. Roam the vast expanses of water from the comfort of a modern motorboat or explore the intricacies of the Okavango Delta the old fashioned way, in the traditional contours of the Mokoro (canoe).

For those looking to get a little closer to nature, guided bush walks are conducted on a number of the nearby islands, offering an opportunity to track some of the larger land-based species that inhabit this water wilderness. Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding, and fishing for bream and tiger fish is also offered as an activity.

Wildlife
Camp Okavango borders the Moremi Wildlife Reserve and, as such, includes a diverse habitat that supports a wide variety of animals, with possible sightings of Wild Dog, Cheetah and Leopard being highlights. Resident species include Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Giraffe, Hyena, Zebra, Kudu, Red Lechwe, Sable and Roan Antelope and many more. Birdwatching is excellent throughout the year. Guided nature walks to the Delta's islands afford an opportunity to track the larger species that inhabit this wilderness area.
